Anders Borg thrilled audience at OpusCapita seminar: Globalization has just started!
Sweden’s former finance minister, Anders Borg, was the keynote speaker at OpusCapita’s Outsourcing seminar in Stockholm in April. Do we have to mention it was all sold out?
Borg painted a picture of a brave new world full of possibilities.
“Globalization will not slow down, instead it will accelerate from today’s level! Global affluence will as a consequence reach new heights. The leading stars in the future world economies are more likely to be countries such as China, Brazil and Nigeria rather than USA, Finland and Germany.”
Anders Borg is convinced that digitalization is just in its infancy. He is future oriented, and he is widely respected in the financial world.
But the former finance minister is also concerned about the economic situation with deflation and low interest rates, not least in Europe.
“We must get inflation started”, he repeats over and over again. “If deflation settles we know from history it causes severe damage to a society. Therefore low interest rates probably will persist for a substantial amount of time.”
And because of the long period of low interest rates that he predicts, Anders Borg at the same time urges people and institutions to be careful with their money.
“People should be wary when they invest in shares and real estate. There is a risk for overpricing in such a market. If I decide to buy a share today, I have to take in account that the value of my new asset may decline. “
